Lady Jackets win against Zavalla Lady Eagles, 12-2

The Lady Jackets picked up a 12-2 win this week vs Zavalla, on Senior Night. Two Seniors, Kinsley Barnes and Koree Hilliard were recognized before the game. Barnes earned the win surrendering three hits, three strikeouts, and three walks over three innings. Allie Ogden appeared in relief.

Ogden and Lily Payne were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Lady Jackets. Emma Byrd paced the team with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Lauren Citrano stole two bases.

  Earlier in the week the Lady Jackets took a loss from the Brookeland Lady Cats. The Lady Cats got ahead early scoring in the first inning. Emma Byrd tied the game in the fourth inning on a single.

Lily Payne led RBI’s with two. Kinsley Barnes was in the circle allowing nine hits with five strikeouts and six walks over six innings. The Lady Jackets will advance to playoffs as the second team in 1a behind Brookeland. Playoff game information is to be determined. 

The Yellowjacket baseball team picked up a loss early in the week against Brookeland in a close 2-5 game. Jaxon Gay and Jayse Gay each collected two hits. Will Thomason led RBI’s with one.

  Thomason was on the bump going six innings surrendering seven hits, seven strikeouts, and two walks. 

Later in the week the Jackets beat Zavalla 19-4 on the road. Waylon Sturrock started things off in the first inning with a double. In the second inning the Jackets scored seven runs on two hits. Rex Gilzow, Turner Johnson, Jesse Bittick each drew walks scoring one run each. Will Thomason singled, scoring a run, and Bradley Davison lined out, scoring a run. Bittick also doubled in the fifth inning along with Turner Jonson. Jayse Gay and Jaxon Gay both singled. Waylon Sturrock earned the win allowing five hits, three runs, four strikeouts, and two walks.

The Yellowjackets next game is Tuesday April 23 at home vs Zavalla. On Friday April 26 the Jackets will finish their regular season on the road against Brookeland.
