‘Jackets, Lady Jackets take on Zavalla, Brookeland

On Tuesday, January 30, the Yellowjacket basketball teams traveled to Zavalla. The girls started the evening with a loss. Kyli Handley led with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sydney Brock had five points, two rebounds, and four steals. Ty Cochran had three points, seven rebounds. Blakeney Whitworth and Abby Grimes each had two points.

The excitement of the night came from the boys team who lost by two points, 45-47,  in the last five seconds of overtime. Kasen Citrano led with 18 points, Jesse Bittick had 10, Brad Davison and Jaxon Gat each had four; PJ Purvis and Cutter Lowe each had three, Hunter Luther ended with two and Turner Johnson contributed with one free throw.

Friday, Feb. 2, the Jackets hosted Brookeland. JV started off with a very close game losing by two, then varsity girls and boys both lost.

On Friday, Feb. 9 the boys team will host Spurger at JP Johnson Gymnasium. Brad Davison will be recognized for Senior Night. JV will start the evening with tip off at 5 p.m.

Lady Jacket softball started their season this past week with an 11-6 win against Trinity.

This week they travel to Woodville to face the Lady Eagles at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9.
