chester logoCHESTER – In a rather humorous retort at the Chester City Council meeting Monday evening, Dec. 4, Chester Councilman Bryan Davis noted his conversations with the block grant engineer and construction chief. They had 120 days to complete, and Davis felt perturbed that the engineer ought to let him know when construction starts.

Councilwoman Gale Williams chimed in about her chat with the construction chief.

All in all, Chester is on top of ensuring the road will be rejuvenated in due time, likely during the Christmas break, so as not to interfere with school traffic.

A small discussion ensued over late payments to the gas company. The council was concerned over a few and wanted to help and avoid conflict in the cold weather. City Secretary Balela Weaver noted how one deep in arrears had paid some and noted her efforts to help that person manage.

Weaver gave a full financial statement for both October and November noting how well the city’s new QuickBooks assimilation was going.

Mayor Robert Poynter noted at the close how this meeting was the shortest of the year, congratulated all, wished all a Merry Christmas, and all parted ways in good tidings.
