FRED – The Lively Oak Event Center in Fred is hosting a Christmas market event, complete with live music and plenty of vendors, but also with a gift drive to benefit residents of Dogwood Trails.

The event is the third annual Christmas market that the Lively Oak has hosted, and it will take place on Friday, Dec. 8 from noon until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Organizers are promising a shopping and entertainment experience that lives up to the venue’s name, and during the two-day event, shoppers can purchase items to donate to the residents of Dogwood Trails nursing home in Woodville, as Lively Oak is hosting a gift drive for them.

Vendors will be on site, set up both inside of the venue and on the lawn, with plenty of homemade items, such as homemade scarves, soaps and tinctures, as well as jewelry and boutique items and woodcrafts.

On Friday evening, the Warren High School Band will perform from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by local favorites the Mama Earl Revival, fronted by Earlette Duckworth. The Mama Earl Revival will play from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. The live music will continue on Saturday with Judy Moore and Aaron Lanni playing Christmas music on the piano.

Saturday will also allow the opportunity for kids to come and have their picture taken with jolly old Saint Nick and Mrs. Santa Claus. The free kids’ crafts event goes from 10 a.m. to noon, and there will be snow flurries from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The organizers stated that the event is ideal for “shoppers looking for unique, customized and personalized gift items for everyone in the family,” and that it will be “a great event for the whole family.”
