'Jolly Jeep Jingle' to feature in Christmas Celebration

WOODVILLE – For many Jeep owners, their vehicle is a lifestyle and cultural signifier as much (or in some cases, moreso) than it is transportation.

With Jeep enthusiasts looking for opportunities to show off their vehicles, the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce is calling on them to come and do just that as part of the “Jolly Jeep Jingle,” which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2 as part of the Chamber’s countywide “Christmas in Tyler County” annual celebration.

The alliteratively named contest will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the courthouse square in Woodville. This will be the second year that the Chamber has featured the Jeep event in its Christmas activities schedule. The entry fee for the Jolly Jeep Jingle is $25, and registration forms can be found on the Chamber’s website, by accessing: www.tylercountycoc.com.

Alongside the Jeeps on display, there will also be a general entry car show, where all custom cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcomed to be displayed. The entry fee for that car show is a new, unwrapped kids’ toy, which will go to the Angel Tree program, which is sponsored by the Tyler County Child Welfare Board in effort to provide children in need with Christmas cheer.

The Chamber is putting forth awards opportunities in the Jeep Jingle for three categories: Best Christmas Decorated; People’s Choice and Chamber’s Choice.

There is also a separate contest, with a $10 entry fee for “Superb Sound and Custom System,” for Jeep owners to show off what their sound systems can do.

With the opportunity to see decked-out Jeeps, the public will also get to learn about the traditions of the Jeep culture, such as the rubber ducks that Jeep owners display on their vehicles, which will be part of the Chamber’s event.

The Christmas activities will go two days, beginning on Friday, Dec. 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the lighting of the square, along with shopping, food, crafts and other opportunities, and a visit from Santa Claus.

The fun begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. on the square with the vendors. The opportunities for vendors are also available through the Chamber’s website.
