From Staff Reports

TYLER COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a crash on Farm-to-Market Road 256, just east of County Road 2162, that occurred on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023.

According to Sgt. Shana Clark with the DPS, the preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling west. It is reported that the driver failed to drive in a single lane and left the road to the right, overcorrected this maneuver back to the left and then to the right again, causing him to lose control.

The vehicle traveled into the north ditch where it struck an embankment, causing it to overturn and then struck an electrical pole. None of the occupants were seat-belted in and both passengers were ejected.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Juilus Hough of Woodville, was transported to Tyler County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His passengers included, 19-year-old Ronnie Douglas, who was transported to Tyler County Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries and 18-year-old Dylan Bruton, who was transported to HCA Houston Conroe for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time
