Two-vehicle crash results in serious injuries
From Staff Reports
DAM B – One person was transported by medical helicopter for serious injuries from a wreck near Dam B last week.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sgt. Shana Clark, the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4. It occurred along US 190, about three miles west of Dam B and the 190/FM 92 intersection.
According to Clark, both Dam B and Woodville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a scene where a Dodge Ram pickup truck had collided with the driver side of a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, and both vehicles had come to rest off of the highway.
Firefighters had to use the jaws-of-life to rescue the van’s driver, identified as 21-year-old Greyson Hurst, of Woodville. Hurst was flown from the scene by a medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont. The driver of the truck, 55-year-old Rick Klinoff, of Jasper, was not injured in the crash. He said he was headed west when the van pulled over and made a u-turn in the highway.
Clark said a passenger in the van was able to make it out of the vehicle on their own and was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
