TYLER COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 69, just south of Recreational Road 255, that occurred early on the morning of Monday, Oct. 16, near Colmesneil.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 5 a.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north, while a Chevrolet Spark was traveling south. It is reported that the driver of the Silverado crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the Spark head-on.
The driver of the Silverado, identified as 61-year-old Don Houston of Lufkin, was transported to Woodland Heights for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Spark were pronounced deceased on scene by a Justice of the Peace. The driver is identified as 46-year-old Marlon McDaniel, his passenger is identified as 45-year-old Hollis McDaniel, both of Woodville.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
