Trinity loses two in district

The Trinity Tigers went 0-2 last week, falling to Crockett 48-42 on Wednesday and to Shepherd 60-38 on Friday.

Head Coach Jacoby Mitchell said standouts included Kaden Barnes, D.C. Cooper, Cord’e Walker and Bryan Crabtree.

Against Shepherd, top scorer was Cole Hortman with 8.

Apple Springs

The Eagles posted two losses for the week, falling 62-58 to Martinsville on Wednesday and 65-49 to Wells on Friday.

Head Coach Jeffrey Browning said that it was a tight ball game against Martinsville, and the team missed a chance at the end of the game to tie or win, but couldn’t get the basket needed.

Top scorers were Dakota Campbell with 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and Zeth Dugat with 11, including three 3-pointers. Connor Kaufman pulled in 17 rebounds, and Campbell added 6.

On Friday against Wells, Browning said the team just didn’t have a good shooting night.

“The game was closer than the score looked,” he said. “They fought hard the entire game, but Wells made crucial baskets when needed.”

Campbell led scoring with 16, and Caden Diaz chipped in 13.

Centerville

The Bulldogs lost two games last week, 88-38 to Slocum on Wednesday and 84-46 to Neches on Friday.

Top producers against Slocum were Iain Kendrick with 22 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals; Brayden Watson with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal; Wyatt Clede with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal; and Ty Powers with 6 points.

Top producers against Neches were Iain Kendrick with 28 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 steal; Brayden Watson with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block; and Wyatt Clede with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal.

Girls

Groveton

The Lady Indians traveled to Latexo Friday and won 45-33.

Top scorers were Laney Peterson and Kiki Smith with 15 points apiece, followed by Emma Alexander with 8 points.

Groveton traveled to Leon on Wednesday and lost 49-34. 

High scorer was Kiki Smith with 23 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Emma Alexander with 4 points and Laney Peterson with 3. 

Trinity

The Lady Tigers lost to Crockett 61-22 on Wednesday and to Shepherd 37-11 on Friday.
