CENTERVILLE — The Apple Springs Eagles basketball team soared over Centerville with a 76-42 victory on Friday night, bringing the team to 4-1 in district.

Leading the team in scoring were Caden Diaz with 28, including two treys, and Dakota Campbell with 24.

Connor Kaufman pulled in 15 rebounds, followed by Campbell with 11 and Ethan Randell with 10.

On Jan. 9, the Eagles edged out the Neches Tigers 49-48.

Top shooters for Apple Springs were Campbell with 18 and Diaz with 14.

Kaufman stayed hot on the boards, pulling in 8 rebounds.

No stats were available for Centerville.

The Bulldogs were overpowered more than 2-1 against Kennard, falling 103-45 on Jan. 9.

Trinity

The Tigers split two close games last week, downing Coldspring-Oakhurst 56-52 on Friday while losing to Tarkington 59-58 on Jan. 9.

Groveton

The Indians went 1-1 for the week, falling to the Centerville Tigers 55-45 on Friday but beating the Normangee Panthers 46-39 on Jan. 9.

Groveton

The Lady Indians played the Centerville Lady Tigers Friday and lost 38-19.

Top producers were Laney Peterson with 8 points and 7 rebounds and Lauren Moore with 4 points and 5 rebounds.

On Jan. 9, Groveton lost to Lovelady 57-19.

Leading scorers were Kiki Smith and Darbi Parker both with 5, followed by Lauren Moore with 4.

Trinity

The Lady Tigers lost to the Coldspring Lady Trojans 54-26 on Friday. The score for the Trinity-Tarkington game was unavailable.
