Lady Eagles looking forward to next season

APPLE SPRINGS — The Lady Eagles ended their season on a down note, falling 3-0 to Kennard.

The scores were 11-25, 9-25 and 10-25.

Head Coach Michael Powell said that while he was disappointed in how they played against Kennard, overall, the team made huge strides this year.

“We came into the season with two goals: be better this season than last year and make the playoffs,” he said. “Unfortunately, we did not achieve the second goal, but the girls worked hard every day and we not only had a better record this year, but we also played much better.”

Apple Springs had a bad game, but it doesn’t take away from the positive direction the team made.

Groveton

The Lady Indians split games last week but remain in third in district with a 5-4 record.

On Friday, Groveton lost 3-0 to Lovelady. Scores were 18-25, 13-25 and 20-25.

Top producers were Kiki smith with 9 kills, 13 digs; Emma Alexander with 2 kills, 2 digs; Landree Martin with 1 ace, 6 digs; Rylee Due had 3 digs; Daisia Leonard with 4 digs; Stormie Hensley with 1 kill, 2 digs, 2 assists; Aubrey Alexander with 3 kills, 5 assists, 12 digs; Jannett Bautista with 4 kills, 4 digs; Caila Antley with 2 kills, 1 dig; Kady Lee with 2 blocks; and Paislie Voelker with 1 kill, 4 aces, 12 assists, 10 digs.

On Oct. 17, Groveton wins over Grapeland 3-0. Scores were 25-15, 25-12 and 25-20.

Trinity

The Lady Tigers split matches last week, downing Crockett 3-0 on Oct. 17 but falling to Coldspring 3-1 on Friday.

Against Crockett, the scores were 25-13, 25-13 and 25-17.
