Boys win consolation bracket

WELLS — The Centerville junior high basketball squads competed in the End of Year Tournament at Wells over the weekend, with the boys team eking out a win in the consolation bracket.
Both Centerville’s boys and girls groups competed in the upper bracket.
On Thursday, the girls lost their first game to Chireno, then defeated Big Sandy later that night.

On Friday, the boys lost their first game to Big Sandy then defeated Brookeland later that night as well.
In the Consolation game Saturday evening, the girls lost a tough one to Broaddus 20-16, then the boys defeated Martinsville (who only lost 2 games all season) 45-38 to take home the consolation trophy.
Notable performances include Hardy Brown, who scored 23 points against Martinsville; Brice Selman, who scored 16 points against Brookeland; Braden White, who scored 13 points against Brookeland; and Avery Brown, who scored 15 points against Big Sandy.
