CENTERVILLE — The Bulldogs rattled off three straight victories, all by 20-plus points, to claim the title to the Bulldog JH tournament.
Meanwhile, the girls earned victories over Kennard and Leggett and lost a hard-fought battle against Wells to earn second place.
The boys defeated Kennard 44-28, defeated Leggett 52-23 and defeated Wells 43-22 in their march to victory. Coach Geoffrey Hollis said it’s the first time a Centerville boys team, junior high or high school, has won a tournament in a significant number of years.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Kennard 28-10 and Leggett 22-13 but lost to Wells 50-25 in the championship.
Hollis said that was the highest finish for a Centerville girls’ team in a significant number of years as well.
Hardy Brown and Braden White were named Boys Co-MVP, and Chris Fry was named Boys All-Tournament Player. Avery Brown and Jamie Whittlesey claimed Girls All-Tournament Player honors.
