A good time was had, will be had by all

This past weekend Trinity was really hopping. We had so many fundraisers and organizational events going on that it was hard to choose which one to attend.

The one I attended, of course, was the SAAFE House Denim & Diamonds Purse Bingo at the Trinity Community Center. I have attended this fundraiser for more than 13 years.

The SAAFE House event was a huge success. Everyone had a great time, the food was great, the prizes were awesome, and Rana Wingo is to be commended for raising funds for her organization these past 13 years to advocate for Trinity children.

Wingo has been a children’s advocate for more than 20 years for SAAFE House in Trinity, and I hope they appreciate her as much as Trinity County does for all her caring, compassion, and professional expertise to all the law enforcement agencies, and other children’s group.

•Now, a recap for this week’s enjoyment opportunities.

The Wall of Honor Society 16th annual fundraiser is Saturday starting at noon and ending at 6 p.m. The event benefiting the Trinity County Veterans has 10 major raffle drawings throughout the afternoon and you do not have to be present to win. In addition to the raffle drawings, there will be door prizes, food, and music with silent and live quilt auctions too. •Don’t forget the Pumpkin Patch opened this weekend. Donations are the standard fee. The patch is located downtown on the FTMC lot, and it is decorated wonderfully for the children to have fun, and for the parents to take pictures of them having fun.

The days and time of operating hours in the Pumpkin Patch are Oct. 14-31, Monday through Friday from 3:30-6:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Sundays 12:30-5 p.m.

•The Trinity High School Seniors are having a Senior Halloween Haunted House on Oct. 28, starting at 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. and the cost is $5 per person.

•The Trinity Police Department is hosting Treats on the Street Halloween Festival on Tuesday on Elm Street at 6:30 p.m. The festival is free with prizes galore, including drawings, bicycle giveaways, gift certificates, and all the candy donated by Trinity citizens for the children. This weekend will be easier to choose your pleasure as most of the events held this weekend are age- and gender-appropriate. For instance, haunted houses, Treats on the Streets, the Pumpkin Patch and and church parties will abound for the children, and other events and activities are planned for the adults and veterans in our area at the VFW Hall and Scheelbillies on FM 356.

•As previously mentioned in the last issue, November is taking the spotlight in less than two weeks for more activities.

•First Presbyterian Church is hosting a Quilt and Art Show from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Nov. 11. There will be a bake sale and other items to help raise funds for various charities supported by our Presbyterian Women’s Group.

The church is located at 405 N. Elm St. and celebrates 110 years of service. Their building was dedicated on Oct. 12, 1913. Please attend this celebration and see their beautiful sanctuary.

Saturday, December 2, is the TPCC Christmas Show at the Trinity Community Center at 10 a.m.

•Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s next meeting is Nov. 7 at the Chamber Building located at 105 Stadium St. at 6 p.m. If you would like to attend and give suggestions, we will be planning the agenda and Christmas program at this time and we welcome all ideas and improvements.
