Groveton firefighters took 2 ½ hourse to knock down a structure fire on Lloyd Davis Road.

GROVETON — Groveton and Trinity firefighters battled a pair of blazes that broke out over the weekend that left two structures destroyed.
Just after 2 a.m. Sunday in Groveton, firefighters were sent to a home on Lloyd James Road, and when they arrived, the rear of the home was completely engulfed in flames.
Fire Chief Glenn Hammond said they responded with an engine, a brush truck and five firefighters, and the Trinity fire department was contacted for mutual aid.
He said the fire, which is believed to have started around the dishwasher area of the kitchen, took about 2 1/2 hours to control.

No injuries were reported. The owners or residents were not identified.
In Trinity on Dec. 29, Trinity Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire on Doug Bell Road that broke out around 10 p.m.
Assistant Fire Chief Keith Johnson said the department responded with three engines and 17 firefighters and found a 30 x 60 metal garage, with living quarters in the rear of the building, on fire.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 10 minutes, and putting out hot spots required another 45 minutes, Johnson said. The living quarters were heavily damaged by the fire.
No injuries occurred and the cause appears to be electrical.
The owners, who were out of town, were not identified, Johnson said.
