Logging truck overturns

TRINITY COUNTY —Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers investigated a commercial motor vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 1280, one-half mile east of U.S. Highway 287, that occurred June 27.

Records indicate that at approximately 2:40 p.m., a 2011 Westernstar semi truck hauling logs was traveling east. The driver, 44-year-old Derrick Smith of Huntsville, failed to drive in a single lane and traveled into the ditch, where it overturned.

Smith was not injured. He was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.
