SHEPHERD — Friday found Hagan Adams toeing the rubber against Big Sandy in a non-district matchup, one that gave the Pirates a 9-4 win.

Coach Anthony Trevino said, “It was a good rebound for us. Hagan Adams got a chance to show his stuff and did a great job on the mound.”

The team looked very good all around. Tristen Cullum, during the second inning, with count 0-2, punched a ball that lacked 2 feet of going out of the park.

During the first inning, Landen Dellinger legged out a triple, and with an infield hit he dove into home plate for the first run of the game. The Pirates posted 3 runs in the third inning and then 2 in the fourth, ending with 9 runs to Big Sandy’s 4.

The Trojans snuck by New Waverly 6-5 on March 5 in front of the home-town crowd.

Luke Monroe hand mound duty, striking out 3 while giving up 8 hits.

Coach Austin Riddell said, “We are a very young team, starting only one senior this year. It will be an interesting season. You can expect to see a lot of Monroe on the mound this year, as well as Nolan Beaver and Jordan Ash as the third reliever. Our speed will be our asset, and offensively Brennan Headley will be our anchor in the lineup, in the third position followed by Jordan Ash, a promising young talent.”

Monroe cracked off two hits on offense, and Headley chipped in a triple.

The Lady Trojans dominated New Waverly Lady Bulldogs 14-2 on March 5, and blanked the team 16-0 on Friday.

In the game earlier in the week, the game was called in the fourth inning due to the 10-run rule. Trinity Rosales, Haylee Rosales, Izzy Doggett and Macie Anderson all posted a 2-hit game each. Doggett was able to score 3 times during the night helping the Lady Trojans to the 14-2 win.

Trinity Rosales threw 8 strikeouts while only giving up 4 hits for the win.

The Lady Trojans had 14 runs on 13 hits and only 1 error. The Lady Bulldogs had 3 errors and 4 hits with 2 runs for the night.

On Friday, every team member managed two hits on New Waverly, while Izzy Doggett led all batters with 3 hits.

Trinity Rosales got the win, tossing 5 strikeouts in her no-hitter.

The Lady Pirates blanked Onalaska twice, 20-0 on March 5 and 11-0 on Friday.

On March 5, Neveah Murphey and Isabelle Hooper each contributed 3 hits, with Murphey bringing home 6 runs.

Hooper and Montana Capps shared mound duty, combining for 7 strikeouts while giving up only 2 hits.

On Friday, Murphey, Adison Simpson and Hooper had 2 hits apiece in the win.

Hooper got the win on the mound, tossing 14 strikeouts in her no-hitter.
