SHEPHERD — Costly mistakes and a tough Woodville offense led to a 42-14 loss for the Shepherd Pirates.
Two scoring opportunities fell short because of fumbles, which the Eagles were able to capitalize on for TDs.
The Pirates’ first TD came on an off-tackle play for a 38-yard scamper by Preston Stephens, and the second was by Javaris Marsh, who found an opening to set up a 14-yard rushing TD by Hunter Kyle.
Shepherd posted 290 yards in total offense, helped by Stephens, who had 12 carries for 120 yards and 1 TD; Landon Dellinger with 12 carries for 60 yards; Kyle with 4 carries for 40 yards and 1 TD; and Jevaris Marsh with 4 runs for 34 yards.
