WILLIS — The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 51-year-old-man who’s partially decomposed body was found Saturday.

Lt. Charles Doughtery said the body of James Andrew Robberson was found in a camper trailer at the East to West RV Park in the Willis area on FM 3081, which is located in San Jacinto County.

Police had gone to the area for a welfare check after the victim’s sister could not make contact.

Doughtery said the sister hadn’t heard from Robberson since May 12 and came to the area to check on him; he had just moved here about 6 months ago.

“She saw the vehicle, saw keys in ignition and a large amount of blood in driver’s seat and front panel,” Doughtery said. “She went to trailer but it was locked and called law enforcement.”

The fire department and patrol officers responded, gained entry to the RV and found the body. There were some personal items missing from the scene, and it appeared that the victim was stabbed multiple times, including a stab wound to the right side of the neck.

The details were difficult to ascertain because the body was partially decomposed since the body was there possibly two weeks before being found., Doughtery said. It has has been sent to Jefferson County Morgue in Beaumont for an autopsy.

Additionally, Robberson’s 1999 Chevy Suburban is being processed by crime scene analysts this week.

Doughtery said this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available. The office has received some tips, but currently has no person of interest.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators are urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (936) 653-4367.
