Fundraiser SJ

Special to the News-Times

COLDSPRING — The San Jacinto County Child Welfare Board will be raffling off a quilt and selling gift baskets at Christmas on the Square in Coldspring on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The Queen size quilt, “The Pride of Texas,” was made by local residents Lisa Anderson and Terri Cook and quilted by LaDonyce Hamilton of LaLa’s Quilt Shoppe on FM 2025. They have donated the quilt to the board to raise money for the abused and neglected children of our county.

Raffle tickets cost $1 and can be purchased from any board member, at People’s State Bank or at the board’s booth at Christmas on the Square. The drawing for the quilt will be held at 3:30 p.m.

The annual booth and the Tree of Lights are the organization’s only fundraisers. Monies raised help provide for medical expenses, dental care, eyeglasses, clothing and school needs as well as providing gifts to mark special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas and graduations.
