A variety of free services to help Deep East Texas businesses thrive and get individuals back to work or on a path to sustainable careers is being offered throughout the month of February by Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas.

There are four separate hiring events throughout February. Assistance with registering, preparing for and attending the events is available at the Polk County Workforce Center located at 1241 W. Church St. Suite 300 in Livingston. All hiring events will be held at the Polk County Workforce Center.

Elara Caring will have a hiring event from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 15, 22 and 29. Texas Department of Criminal Justice will have a hiring event from 1-5 p.m. on Feb. 22. Spherion for Blue Rhino will have a hiring event from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 15, 22 and 29. Gary Job Corps will have a hiring event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22.

The workforce center is also offering a variety of one-hour workshops to get job applicants prepared. The dependability workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 28. In this workshop, applicants will learn how to be a dependable professional, boost their career and get great recommendations. A remaining focused workshop that teaches how to organize one’s life, remove distractions and beat procrastination is slated for 2 p.m. Feb. 16. A workshop that teaches how to take the initiative to reach one’s work and career goals is slated for 2 p.m. Feb. 23. A communication workshop on removing barriers, non-verbal communication and listening skills is slated for 10 a.m. Feb.14. An interview workshop that helps participants prepare for the interview and provides an opportunity to practice answering tough questions and asking tough questions is slated for 10 a.m. Feb. 21.

The Polk County Workforce Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Specialists are available to help with job readiness, resume assistance, job search, skills training, paid work experience, in-person and virtual workshops, support services and more.
