Second man charged in death of two

A Livingston man charged in the deaths of two has received a sentence in state prison after pleading guilty.

Pleading guilty to a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony on Feb. 23, Dontrevion Donnell Glenn agreed to a 30-year sentence. Glenn and two others involved were originally charged with capital murder.

The plea deal was the same assigned to Jared Hope, also from Livingston, when he accepted the charge in October of 2021.

The shooting from January of last year took place at a residence in the 200 block of Maple Lane in Livingston. Ashton Allen Smith was found deceased by officers after he received multiple gunshot wounds. Vickie Douglas would later die from gunshot wounds. Two others, including a 3-year-old female, were shot at the residence as well.

Cole Byron Tucker, a third suspect from Livingston, has yet be set for trial, but could be later this year. He was arrested soon after the incident by an LPD detective and Texas Ranger after he went to Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston to be treated for gunshot wounds.

Hope would be taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office just outside of Splendora. Glenn was arrested in Diboll by Texas Rangers.

According to witnesses, Tucker began firing his weapon upon making forcible entry into the residence and a male i side returned fire with his weapon. The male inside the residence was later identified as Smith.
