Chester defeats Colmesneil

Monday night, March 18, the JV baseball team played in Colmesneil, defeating the Bulldogs 15-4. Kasen Citrano earned the win for the Jackets on the bump. Citrano also went 4-4 at the plate. 

The Chester and Colmesneil varsity squads met up on Tuesday March 19. The Jackets jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Will Thomason and Turner Johnson each collected two hits. Thomason earned the 10-0 win giving up three hits, with six strikeouts and no walks. Johnson appeared in relief for the Jackets. 

On Friday the Jackets took a hard loss to the Chireno Owls. Will Thomason went three for three at the plate. Jesse Bittick started on the mound giving up four hits, four walks, and five strikeouts.

Thomason took the loss going three innings with two hits, three walks, and five strikeouts. The Jackets will host Leggett on March 26 and then travel to Burkeville on April 2 with game time at 4 p.m. 

The Lady Jackets only played one game this past week due to rain. They hosted the Colmesneil Lady Dogs. Kinsley Barnes started in the circle for the Lady Jackets giving up five hits, five runs, five walks, and one strikeout. Barnes and Emma Byrd each had two hits.

The Lady Jackets will play Chireno on March 26 in Zavalla and on March 28 they will host Burkeville with game time at 4:30 p.m. 


Yellowjacket Golf earns championship

The district golf meet was held March 25 at Rayburn Country. The boys golf team earned their third straight District Championship with Will Thomason, Cutter Lowe, Brad Davison, Waylon Sturrock, and PJ Purvis.

The girls team, Kinsley Barnes and Hailey Purvis, earned first and second place respectively at the tournament. Both the boys and girls team advanced to the Regional Tournament on April 16-17 in Manor, Texas.
