Thanks to the support of the community through the purchasing of pumpkins and the generosity of corporate sponsors, First Methodist Church of Livingston raised $8,000 during its 2023 pumpkin patch last fall for two local charities.

Since 1998, FMC has hosted the pumpkin patch during the month of October. In addition to selling a wide variety of pumpkins, there are also many free photo opportunity displays set up for families and a variety of free weekend events offered. The 2023 events included a fall festival, solar eclipse viewing and education, SPCA vaccination clinic and Halloween parade and trunk-or-treat.

Proceeds from the 2023 pumpkin patch were split between Our Fathers House and Helping Hands Ministries, both of which serve the community’s homeless and families in need.

Our Fathers House (OFH), located at 203 E. Calhoun in Livingston, assists the homeless and families of high need with basic services such as meals, clothing, laundry, household items and furniture. Clients may come during normal business hours, and lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The ministry welcomes volunteers and is in continuous need for individually wrapped snacks, soups, canned meats, protein bars and bottled water. OFH also needs small blankets, adult and children’s clothing, furniture and monetary donations. OFH may be contacted by phone at 936-256-3370 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Helping Hands, located at 2801 U.S. 190 West in Livingston, provides local area families with emergency assistance, such as help with utility bills and gasoline for doctor’s appointments or job interviews. People traveling through town are helped with emergency needs such as gasoline. Assistance is available from the Helping Hands Ministry Team on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, you may contact the First Methodist Church office Monday through Thursday at 936-327-7100.
