‘Jackets, Lady Jackets host Colmesneil

CHESTER – The Yellowjacket basketball teams kicked off their season this past week by hosting Colmesneil and Latexo. Both boys’ teams took a loss to Colmesneil. The Lady Jackets beat the Lady Dogs 23-14.

On Tuesday, all three teams lost to a well-seasoned Latexo team. This week the Yellowjackets will travel to Kennard on Tuesday. At the end of this week the Yellowjackets will participate in the Apple Springs Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Thursday the girls will play at 8am and boys play at 9:15 a.m. The rest of the bracket play will be determined by the wins or losses of the games on Thursday. 

‘Jackets receive All-District honors

Football All-District awards have been announced with several Yellowjackets earning accolades. Senior Keighen Green was awarded Offensive MVP, and All-Star Nomination.

Freshman Kasen Citrano was named Co-Newcomer Of The Year. Junior PJ Purvis is D-Line 3 First Team. Sophomore Jesse Bittick racked up several awards, First Team Linebacker, Punter, Runningback, and Kicker. Zach Redwine, Sophomore, earned two awards, First Team Cornerback and Tight End. Sophomore, Jaxon Gay earned First Team Utility Player. Junior Trayce Knox earned First Team Quarterback. Junior Kevron Green was named First Team Special Teams Player.
