CHESTER – Spurger Pirate cross-country runners got the win at the Chester meet last week.

The Pirate varsity boys’ teams returned to Spurger as the first-place team. The junior varsity boys also brought home the
gold, and the junior high boys team tied for second.

Spurger cross-country com- peted in Chester at Camp Ta-Ku-La on Wednesday and the varsity boys had all competitors in the top 10.

Senior Jose’ Jimenez placed second in the varsity race followed closely by Joshua Grissom in third; Luis Jimenez in fourth; Landon Heim in fifth and Colton Fredieu came in ninth place.

For the JV race, Logan Alvis took first place, followed by Ryder Callaway in third and Gage Gray in ninth place. The junior high boys also had a first place finish by Zech Grissom, followed by Dawson Heim in 14th. Running for Varsity girls, Searra Clark had a third place finish. The Pirate runners also participated at the Woodville meet on Satur day.

Results from that meet are unavailable at press time. On Wednesday, the runners took part in a meet at Zavalla High School, and coming up, they will run in the Lufkin Coke Classic at Lufkin High School on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
