COLMESNEIL – Colmesneil City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on the  evening of Tuesday, Nov. 15,  and quickly got down to business.

Mayor Duane Crews attended the meeting via face time over the phone and called the meeting to order at 7 pm. The first order of business was the swearing in of three council members for the 2023-25 term.

Bubba Sheffield, Virgie Barnes, and Billy Andrus all took the oaths of office for their respective two- year terms.

City Secretary Wendy Bendy wanted to thank everyone who helped to make this year’s Fall Festival a success. She also reported that the city still has one CD at Citizens Bank, and once it matures on Nov. 16, she will move it to Education First in Woodville, where the other four CD’s have already been transferred.

The city’s website is up, and she reports that citizens can begin utilizing it to make bill payments in December, with it being fully operational beginning in January. The website’s address is: cityofcolmesneil.com.

All reports, including financial an investment, office, and water/sewer where approved, as were the minutes form the previous month’s meeting.

Next month’s city council meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. instead of the usual 7 p.m., so the city staff and spouses can enjoy the annual Christmas party. Bendy is having shirts made for council members to wear at meetings, and special events, and will be taking a group photo of the mayor and city council at the December meeting.
