Russell O. Nalley, 85, of Woodville, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 3, 2024 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 beginning at 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. service time at Woodville Methodist Church with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville.  Officiating will be Rev. Doug Wintermute and Rev. Tommy Williams.  Serving as pallbearers will be David Nalley, Mark Nalley, Derek Scott, Ryan Scott, Chase Nalley, and Shane Nalley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Woodville Lions Club.

Russ was born on September 23, 1939 to Garrett Addison and Adelaide Nalley in Brownwood, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Woodville and a member of the Woodville Methodist Church, where he served on the church council, taught the fellowship class, and sang in the choir. Russ was a former president and longtime member of the Woodville Lions Club. For many years he helped organize the Little Dribblers in Woodville. He was a former, Woodville City Council member, and was later elected as mayor. He was an Eagle Scout, he served as the local Cub Scout master in Woodville. Russ owned and operated the Russ Nalley State Farm Insurance Agency in Woodville from 1986 to 2015. Prior to working at his insurance agency, he was a teacher and coach for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Adelaide Nalley.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Glenda Nalley of Woodville; sons, David Nalley of The Woodlands, Mark Nalley of Houston, and Chase Nalley and wife, Alyssa of Woodville; step sons, Derek Scott and wife, Jennifer of Atascosita, and Ryan Scott and wife, Christy of Beaumont; sister, Jeanne Johnson of Paint Rock; grandchildren, Shane Nalley, Cohen Scott, Jackson Scott, Parker Scott, Adelaide Nalley; and great-grandchildren, Grace Nalley and Noah Nalley.
