Fair time is around the bend

WOODVILLE – It won’t be too much longer until the Tyler County Fairgrounds will be ripe with the sights and smells of projects that are the result of the hard work of youth from across the county.

From show animals to mechanical projects, to artwork and baked goods, the Tyler County Fair showcases all of those endeavors, and each year, during the first week of October, raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for the county’s young people.

This year, the fair runs from Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Saturday, Oct. 5.

Last year, the fair raised more than $346,679 through the various projects of FFA and 4-H members. Whether the young people are starting their day before the sun rises, in caring for livestock, or working on their home economics projects, or ag mechanics projects, the fair is a showcase of immense talent throughout our county.

Entry forms are available on the fair’s website, www.tylercountyfair.us, or by contacting your FFA or 4-H sponsor.

Armbands for admittance to ride the many rides, provided by Sam’s Amusements, are $25 for the Wednesday and Thursday dates, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and $25 Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Tyler County Fair Board encourages everyone to come out and support the youth of the county in their endeavors.
