Chilling tales told this weekend at Village

WOODVILLE – As many T-shirts, sweaters, signs and other items might attest, it’s officially “spooky season,” with just a little more than a month until Halloween.

As is tradition at Heritage Village, the annual “Ghosts and Legends of Texas Past” event will take place this Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event, a favorite offering of many, out at the Village, will comprise four storytellers, who will be situated in different areas along Main Street in the Village, sharing stories and legends from the colorful history of the area. Some of these tales will likely include allusions to things that go bump in the night, so be prepared for a good fright. The event promises to thrill (and chill) audiences with fascinating stories.

The gates will open at 6 p.m., and the storytelling will last from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The storytellers who are slated to appear at the event include Woodville residents Roy Bolding; Valerie Tucker and Sandra Wright and Ivanhoe’s Patsy Morris.

The stories that are shared during the event serve a purpose of helping the audience to understand the history and culture, both within our county as well as throughout the state.

The stories develop during the telling, by the skill of the “teller,” and the audience develops its listening skills as they listen to the yarns getting spun.

Admission to the event is $10, or $5 for children under five years of age.

The ghost stories event will kick the fall off for the Village, with its annual Harvest Festival coming next month, from Oct. 18-19.
