Lady Indians now in regional semis

NACOGDOCHES — Two wins over Beckville on Saturday put the Groveton Lady Indians into the semifinals.
While Groveton lost 8-1 on Thursday, the Lady Indians rebounded and dropped the Lady Bearcats 4-3 and 6-3 on Saturday.
Megan Luce got the loss, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out 4; reliever Landree Martin allowed five runs on five hits, including 1 home run.
Luce got the only hit in that game.
In the first Saturday game, a 4-run fourth inning gave the Lady Indians a lead it never lost.
Luce got the win this time, striking out 4 while giving up 3 runs on 8 hits. Lexi Easterling went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense.
In the second half of the doubleheader, Luce again was credited with the win, pitching 3 innings and allowing only one hit while striking out 2. Martin again was reliever, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and striking out 4.
Luce, Easterling, Martin, Kiki Smith, Caila Antley and Maryssa Rivers each contributed a hit in the win.
Groveton moves on to the Regional Semifinals against the Como-Pickton Eagles at 6 p.m. Friday in Whitehouse.
