APPLE SPRINGS — The Groveton Lady Indians took first place out of a pool of eight teams at the annual Apple Springs Holiday Hoops Basketball Tournament last weekend.

Groveton downed Chester 57-28, Richards 50-6 and beat Trinity in the finals 35-20.

In the Chester game, top scorers were Kiki Smith with 13 points, 4 steals and 6 rebounds; Laney Peterson with 12 points and 6 rebounds; Isavel Bautista with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks; Anahi Chavez with 11 points, 5 steals and 4 rebounds; Emma Alexander with 6 points and 4 steals; and Stormie Hensley with 3 points and 1 block.

In the Richards game, top producers were Anahi Chavez with 10 points and 4 steals; Laney Peterson with 9 points and 6 steals; Kiki Smith with 9 points, 6 steals and 7 rebounds; Stormie Hensley with 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals; Emma Alexander with 5 points and 3 rebounds; Marie Gonzalez with 5 points; Isavel Bautista with 4 points, 5 steals and 3 rebounds; Daisia Leonard with 2 points; and Zoeie Hardin with 5 steals and 4 rebounds.

In the finals against Trinity, Kiki Smith had 17 points, 10 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks; Anahi Chavez had 8 points and 4 steals; Laney Peterson had 4 points and 6 rebounds; Isavel Bautista had 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks; Marie Gonzalez had 2 assists; and Emma Alexander had 2 assists.

•The Trinity Lady Tigers were runners up in the tournament, losing the championship game to Groveton.

Freshman Bree Davidson had a game high of 15 points in the first game against Corrigan.

The defense was led by Shawwna English with 8 blocks, Taneya Maxie led the team in rebounds and Olivia Mills led the team in steals.

The Lady Tigers downed Corrigan-Camden 33-17 in the first round of the tournament.

No scores were available for Apple Springs.
