Tigers blanked by tough Bulldog team

TRINITY — The Tigers returned home Friday night with hopes of rebounding from their road trip loss to Newton and make improvements on their season that is nearing its end.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were also licking their wounds from a late-game defeat against Hemphill and were not going to let another game slip away.
The Bulldogs dominated the Tigers in all phases of the game from start to finish and were able to keep the Tigers from mounting anything close to a scoring drive.
The Bulldogs were able to mix passing and running to keep the defense off balance and put together seven touchdown drives, and easily handed the Tigers another lopsided defeat of 49-0.
Along with the loss, the Tigers suffered another possible season ending injury. Junior Bryan Crabtree suffered an ankle injury on an attempted blocked punt by the Bulldogs that resulted in a 15-yard personal foul.
Coach Patrick Goodman spoke to his team after the game and stressed the importance of the last two remaining games and urged his players to come to practice and prepare for Warren and Anderson-Shiro. If the Tigers are able to win both games, they should be able to participate in the playoffs as the fourth seed in the district.

The Tigers will take their final scheduled road trip Friday Night to Warren. Throughout the year, Warren has faced similar struggles and the Tigers are hoping to add another win to their record. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Homecoming was sweet success for the Indians, who dominated against Normangee for a 34-0 win.
The W puts the Indians’ record at 2-6 overall and 1-2 in district.
Quarterback Ian Utz went 8-for-15 passing for 128 yards and 1 TD.
On the ground, Utz had 6 carries for 86 yards and 2 TDs; Phoenix Bowman had 11 carries for 70 yards; Darius McQueen had 15 carries for 50 yards; Juan Bautista had 2 carries for 18 yards; Chase Blair had 1 carry for 2 yards and 1 TD; Wyatt Snead had 2 carries for 11 yards; Jarett Loftin had 1 carry for 8 yards and 1 TD; Clifton Davis had 1 carry for 5 yards.
In receiving, Jackson Cathey had 3 catches for 49 yards; Billy Thomas had 1 catch for 35 yards; Gunner Wilson had 1 catch for 18 yards; Bowman had 1 catch for 15 yards 1 TD; and McQueen had 2 catches for 11 yards.
On defense, Snead had 5 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 quarterback hit and 1 fumble recovery; Bowman had 4 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 pass broken up and 1 interception; Daiton Chandler had 4 tackles; Dax Parker had 4 tackles; Tanner Steubing had 2 tackles; Carter Cox had 2 tackles for loss; Jaylen Lewis had 2 tackles for loss; Loftin had 1 tackle, 2 passes broken up and 1 interception; Davis had 2 tackles and 1 pass broken up; Wilson had 1 tackle; Blair had 1 tackle; Jackson Cathey had 1 tackle; Logan Townsend had 1 quarterback hit; and Brody Thornton had 1 tackle.
