060222 county construction bid

GROVETON — A plan to construct a new maintenance facility has been delayed after Trinity County Commissioners rejected all bids.

County Judge Doug Page said that during the May 24 Commissioners’ Court meeting, the three bids submitted were rejected.

However, Page said that those bids were for a simple building which would be finished, including electrical and plumbing, by county personnel. Commissioners instead opted to rebid for turnkey job, since the county was using American Recovery Plan Act funds for the job.

In other business, the county:
• accepted bids from McWilliams and Sons for replacing air conditioning at the County Community Center and the Ag Life Complex;
• approved the signature of warranty deeds on land for the city of Groveton to drill a water well at the Y;
• approved the sale of a Caterpillar motor grader to Marion County;
• approved the resurfacing and stabilization of the road base on Lake L Drive;
• accepted a donation of dirt from Allen Due for Precinct 1;
• tabled action on enacting burn ban;
• approved personnel action forms;
• approved budget amendments; and
• approve contract with Windstream for location identification for individual county offices.
