CENTERVILLE — Superintendent Mark Brown echoed the sentiment of the community and school when he told the 11 Centerville high-school graduates “Good job, guys.”

He also admonished the gathered eighth-grade graduates to be prepared, because the next four years will fly by and they’ll be in front.

Brown said the graduates will face numerous challenges in their lives and will fail — a lot — but the essence of success is picking yourself up, dusting off, and continuing on.

Salutatorian Devin Capps thanked the numerous people in his life, such as parents, family, friends and of course teachers and administrators in Centerville that helped him and his classmates through high school.

Clarissa Ashworth, valedictorian, said, “Today, we acknowledge and give recognition to the people we’ve met, the lessons we’ve learned, the tears we’ve cried and the laughter and the memories we’ve shared throughout our years at Centerville.

“Today, we show the world we are ready to take on the next stage of our lives,” she said.

Scholarships awarded during the ceremony include:

• Hailey Fuller, WBT&S Scholarship, $500

• Travis Thorne, Calvary Temple Scholarship, $500; Texas Farm Bureau Scholarship, $500; Texas High School Welding Series Scholarship, $500; Shirley Allen Scholarship, $500
