The Coldspring-Oakhurst Lady Trojans dropped two on the court, starting the week by falling behind the New Waverly Lady Bulldogs 33-25.

It was a slow start for both teams, but Coldspring could not get things going in the right direction. With only 10 points in the first two quarters, the Lady Trojans found it a tough ride and went into the locker rooms down 21-10 at the half.

The tough defense only kept the game under the basket, as neither team had any 3-point shots for the night.

Ella Phillips was the top scorer with 9 points, and Efreauna Bains, Honesti Bradford, Maddy Harden and Shaniyla Goffney combined for 14 additional points to round out the night.

On Friday, the Trojans lost to the Anderson-Shiro Lady Owls 70-32.

New Waverly took home the win against the Lady Pirates on Friday with a score of 49-45.

The last quarter was the deciding factor as the Shepherd Lady Pirates closed the scoring gap, posting 19 points to New Waverly’s 9, but a 6-point third quarter proved to be the downfall.

Kiona King had 2 points for the night while Jaz Richardson had 6 points from the line. Dakiyah Clark had 6 points and Mckayden Nelson had 11 points. Tiana Clark led Shepherd for the night with 17 points.

On Jan. 30, the Lady Pirates lost to the Crockett Lady Bulldogs 57-45.

The Trojans drove to New Waverly on Jan. 30 for an 80-54 win.

Coldspring Coach Kerry Brian said, “We started a little slow the first half but after the team meeting at the half we took control of the game and managed to bring home the ‘W.’”

The first half ended with the Bulldogs still in striking distance at 29-34. After the start of the second half the game changed with the Trojans hitting 3-point shots.

Jacorrion Jackson had 10 points while Joshua Brimsey had 8 points with two 3-point shots. Luke Monroe had 25 points with five 3-point shots. Bryan Douglas had 15 points for the night.

On Friday, the Trojans downed Anderson-Shiro 62-54.

The Pirates edged out New Waverly 54-50 on Friday.

Shepherd got off to a great start, going 20-12 in the first quarter and went into the half ahead 32-26. New Waverly tied the score at 38 in the third, and then swapped leads with Shepherd in the fourth.

The Pirates surged in the last seconds to claim the win.

Darrian Matthews had 9 points for the night while Braydon Mettlen managed to post 4. Payton Burton had three 3-point shots and a total of 12 points. Tristen Cullum had 12 points and Brayden White had 10 points in the winning effort.

On Jan. 30, the Pirates lost to Crockett 48-33.

Top scorers were Payton Burton with 8 and Brayden White, Rogelio Covarrubias and Darrian Matthews each with 5.
