The 2-0 Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs will visit the West Hardin Oilers for a rescheduled district matchup this Thursday.
Looking to maintain their perfect streak, the Bulldogs are training on the day-to-day improvements needed to reach peak performance for the last stretch of the season.

“We just have to come to practice every day and focus on those things we can control, our effort and attitude.” said Bulldog head coach Brett Ratliff. “Finding some small detail to get better every day. If we keep it simple that way and take it one game at a time, then it will go well for us.”

This week’s road game will be against an unfamiliar opponent in West Hardin. The Oilers beat the Normangee Panthers in a 43-14 blowout on the road last week.

In week one of district play, the Oilers suffered a blowout loss themselves against the Centerville Tigers.

Thursday’s match will be crucial for both teams in their positioning for district playoffs.

“It will be a new atmosphere for us.” Ratliff said. “[West Hardin] is coming off a big win. They feel good right now and are in the playoff hunt, just like we are, so they are going to come out swinging.”

Corrigan’s defense has shut out its last two opponents and will face an offensive speed attack from West Hardin. The Oiler offense includes sophomore quarterback Kyle Taylor and junior offensive linebacker Reed Payne.

“They are a bit like Leon in that they will put you in a lot of different [spread] formations and try to get outside from you.” said Ratliff. “[Our offense] has seen a lot of four-man fronts lately. So, this will be something new we have not seen in a while.”

Kickoff for Thursday’s game is set for 7 p.m. at Oiler Stadium on the campus of West Hardin High School.
