Citing the overwhelming growth Polk County is experiencing and the need to plan for the future, the Polk County Commissioners Court earlier this year approved entering into a strategic planning process that is a collaborative effort aimed at developing a comprehensive countywide strategic plan. Once developed, this plan will serve as a roadmap to guide the collective vision and goals for Polk County. It will outline the aspirations, priorities and strategies to enhance various aspects of the community, including economic growth, public services, infrastructure development and more.

In a significant step toward shaping the future of the county, three distinct surveys will be launched online Monday to gather insights from residents, local business owners and entrepreneurs, elected officials and government staff members.

The Polk County Strategic Planning Committee recognizes the importance of involving all stakeholders in the planning process to ensure a well-rounded and inclusive strategy. The surveys have been carefully crafted to capture perspectives from different points of view, to help understand the unique needs, aspirations and priorities of the diverse community.

All residents of Polk County are encouraged to participate in the survey to share thoughts on various aspects of the community. From public services and recreational opportunities to transportation and environmental concerns, the survey results will contribute to a well-rounded strategic plan that enhances the quality of life for everyone.

The survey for local business owners and entrepreneurs is designed to gather input as their valuable insights will help identify opportunities for economic growth, infrastructure development and ways to create a thriving business environment that benefits both enterprises and customers.

Elected officials and government staff members play a crucial role in shaping policies and initiatives, so the survey geared toward them will seek to obtain their input and insights into areas that require attention, collaboration and innovative solutions to drive the county forward.

Each survey is designed to be quick and easy to complete, taking just a few minutes to complete. Participants are welcome to take one or all three surveys, depending on their unique viewpoints and interests. Input will help create a strategic plan that truly reflects the aspirations of the entire community.

“While the point of this is to formulate countywide goals for growth, budgeting purposes and policy-marking, this plan could probably also be used by businesses, schools and churches,” John Tarver, president and executive director of the Polk County Economic Development Cooperative, said.

Participation will make a meaningful impact on shaping the future of Polk County and everyone is encouraged to engage in this process and share the surveys with friends, family and colleagues to ensure a broad representation of voices.
