CHRIS EDWARDS | TCBWOODVILLE – A meet and greet to welcome the county’s new extension agent is scheduled for Monday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at the AgriLife extension office.

Amanda Howard was officially named the new Tyler County AgriLife extension agent in May. Prior to her appointment by the county, she served as a physics instructor and head volleyball coach at Woodville High School.

Howard replaces long-serving extension agent Jacob Spivey, who left the position last year to teach agriculture at Warren High School. She began her new position on June 1 and is training for the job throughout the month. She will begin in the office in July.

Michelle McGinty, of the AgriLife office, said “we hope to see you there” at the meet and greet. The office is located at 201 Veterans Way in Woodville.
