She was employed for 13 years at Memorial Herman Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. Mary was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Livingston, Texas.

Mary is survived by her husband of 35 years, David Chaplin; children, Cory O’Brien and wife Deana, Chris O’Brien and wife Marie, Johnathan Chaplin, Claire Jones and husband Tim; sisters, Loretta Tool, Tina Frein and husband Randy; grandchildren, Cameron, Constance, James and Adam; as well and numerous other family members and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Mary (Bakalar) Benac; and sister, Cindy Koopman.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Livingston, Texas with Reverend Alex Garber officiating.

Interment will be at Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, Iowa and is under the care of Wallace Funeral Home.
