Edgar Price

Edgar Price

Edgar Price, affectionately known as “Ed” and “Beau,” a cherished husband, devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024, at the age of 91. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ed was born on July 25, 1932, in Newbern, Illinois, the son of Richard H. Price and Rhoda A. (Jenkins) Price. He spent his formative years in Dow, Illinois with his parents and two sisters. After graduating from Jerseyville High School, Ed voluntarily joined the U.S. Army to bravely serve in the Korean War. After returning home from Korea, Ed became a skilled mold maker for Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Alton, with a career that spanned over 30 years. On July 16, 1952, Ed married the love of his life, Peggy (Rogers), in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Together, they built a life in Brighton, Illinois that was full of love, laughter and devotion. They were blessed with two sons, Richard B. (Amanda) and Colin J. (Liz), who were the center of Ed and Peggy’s world. Ed was a devoted father, always present at their football and baseball games, and life’s milestones of baptisms, weddings and more, offering unwavering support and encouragement.

Beyond his family, Ed was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to all. He had a creative knack for fixing things and was the go-to person for friends and neighbors facing any need. Ed’s kindness, faith, and sense of humor endeared him to all who crossed hispath, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was the keeper of interesting stories and knowledge. He frequently wrote these down in a way that only Ed could … engaging, witty, and usually included a great little cartoon drawing near his signature. Ed could frequently be found with his eyes on the ticker for his day trading or taking his dogs for a “walk” in his golf cart around the ETN X

Ed will be deeply missed by his children (and best buddies), Richard B. (Amanda) and Colin J. (Liz); his grandchildren, Noah Price, Abby Price-Severson (Coulter), Caroline Price and Mary Kate Price; his sister, Edie Combee; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.

Per Ed and Peggy’s wishes, a combined graveside service is being planned for a later date.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3
