Funeral services for Thomas “T.H.” Hansford Bailey, 90, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel located at 406 Yaupon Ave., Livingston, Texas 77351, with Bro. Billy Brackin and Bro. Justin Hulin officiating. Visitation will be held the day of service, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

T.H., born October 30, 1933, in Polk County, Texas, was the son of Bob Bailey and Vira Richardson. He lived in the Holly Grove area throughout his childhood, graduating from Big Sandy High School in 1951. He married Mary Beth Jones on May 16, 1952. After graduating, he started working for Morris Export Crating Company in Houston, Texas where he worked for 50 years, retiring in 2000. He and Mary resided in the Houston area where they raised their five children and were faithful members of Uvalde Baptist Church. After retiring, they moved back to Segno, Texas. T.H. and Mary celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May 2017. In 2018, Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and passed away.

During the 50s, T.H. was a member of the Greens Bayou Volunteer Fire Department. He continued rescue services for several years. He and Mary made and sold crafts for many years, with T.H. making the wooden craft items while Mary painted bluebonnets on them. He loved to fish, hunt and garden in his spare time, and did so until his health would no longer let him. Upon moving back to Segno, they moved their membership to Magnolia Hill Baptist Church, where T.H. became a deacon.

T.H. was a member of the Victory Singers. They would visit local nursing homes weekly to sing Gospel songs for the residents. During this time, he met Ruth Moore, another singing member, and they became a pair that cared for each other very deeply.

Surviving T.H. are his five children, Beth Mays and husband JL, Ronnie Bailey and wife Jeanie, Thomas Bailey, Pamela Day and husband Jimmy, and Traci Mays and husband Edward; 14 grandchi ldren; 54 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; sisterin- law, Delores Thomas Bailey Funeral July 27

Maze; and brother-in-law, Harvey Jones; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Vira Bailey, stepmother, Katie Williams Bailey; sisters, Glady Warren and husband Robert, Mamie Collins and husband Mann, Anice Walters Jones and husbands Earl Walters and Charles Jones, Laura Rhodes and Husband Morris “Beman;” brothers, LV Bailey and wife Velma LC Bailey and wife Sudie; stepbrothers, PL Williams and Junior Williams; father and mother-in-law, Hob and Annie Jones; brothers-in-law, Charles Jones and wife Doris, JL “Rastus” Maze; sister-inlaw, Muriel Duff and husband Sam; daughter- in-law, Cynthia Bailey; grandson, Daniel Gobert; great-great grandson, Noah Janczak; and various nephews.
