Tom graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a highly respected employee in the oil industry for over forty years. Tom was a skilled craftsman and he put himself through college doing carpentry, a longlost American tradition. He was one of the founding members of EOT, a group of oilfield colleagues, who met every other Tuesday for libations and storytelling. Tom had a generous heart and a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He will be missed by many.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Marie Grace De Le Vingne; children, Christopher John Ames and his wife, Jenna; Chantal Grace Dybala and her husband, Curtis; sisters, Joan Ames Hewlett and her husband, Clyde, Carol Waters; grandchildren, Jordan, Ethan, Jace, Cora and Grant; as well as many other loved ones and a host of friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation for Tom will be on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7 p.m. at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July 22, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Livingston, Texas with Fr. Paul Kahan, SVD officiating and Deacon Greg Mouton assisting. Interment is to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. A reception will follow interment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Family Center.
