WOODVILLE – Ivanhoe mayor Cathy Bennett now has another hat to wear – that of president of the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce.
Bennett was elected to fulfill an unexpired term in the position after Leann Monk stepped down in June. Bennett said she is enthused about the future of the organization, which serves the entire county, and advocates for local businesses and assists in the economic growth of the community.

“Although this is something that I certainly had not anticipated, I feel that there is so much we can do to promote our county and the businesses here,” said Bennett.

Bennett, a longtime Chamber of Commerce director on the organization’s board, also serves as Vice Chair of the Texas Forest Country Partnership, which is an economic development organization serving the 12-county region. Bennett said that serving with that

organization ties in with the job of leading the Chamber.

Bennett said she wants to encourage businesses to come up with flyers to distribute to the Chamber office, so as to network and spread the word of their existence.

Bennett also encouraged anyone who is interested in joining the Chamber, or getting involved, to attend the next meeting.

“I would really appreciate input from members of the community, as together we create a new vision for our Chamber. Our next meeting is on July 26, and anyone interested is not only welcome but encouraged to attend,” she said.

For information on becoming a Chamber of Commerce member, stop by the Chamber office, located at 717 West Bluff in Woodville, or check out the organization’s website, located at https://www.tylercountycoc.com.
