WOODVILLE – Sixteen-year-old Kamryn Grammer made a decision earlier in the year, after finding success in local pageants. She decided to take her goals to the next level and enter the prestigious Teen Miss Texas USA pageant.

The event, which will take place July 2-3 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel in Houston, is the official state preliminary pageant in the most highly regarded beauty pageant in the world, the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

Grammer, who is the daughter of Trey and Elizabeth Grammer, is the current reigning Junior Miss Tyler County Queen.

As a Teen Miss Texas contestant, Grammer said the opportunity is great “for a small-town girl like me,” and that the pageant has been one of her dreams since she was a little girl.

“I’ve always watched Miss USA and wanted to be up on that stage. Now I have the opportunity,” she said.

For Grammer, success in pageants comes with a full plate of other activities. Throughout her high school career, thus far, at Woodville High School, she has been active in athletics, as a track and field standout, and has participated in the county fair.

She also took the “Teen Miss Sunshine” title in the “Miss Sunshine Pageant” in 2019.

Right after making her announcement to enter the pageant, Grammer began seeking sponsors to help support her through the process, and many local residents pitched in to support. Her parents have also been tremendously supportive of her goals in the pageant.

Grammer is competing this coming weekend with 80 other teenage girls from around the state to earn the crown. The pageant, according to its website, promises “glamour, excitement” and a “high level of competition.”

The pageant is divided into three categories – the evening gown; personal interview and swimsuit (or activewear for teen contestants).

The prize package for the winner includes tens of thousands of dollars in cash, jewelry, wardrobe, travel and a brand-new car, along with the title. The winner will go on to represent Texas in the Miss Teen USA pageant.

“I am so thankful I have the opportunity to represent Tyler County,” she said.
