The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which is in effect from noon Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

Accumulating snowfall is possible north of the Houston metro area Sunday and Saturday night for Polk and San Jacinto Counties including the cities of Shepherd, Coldspring, Livingston, and Corrigan.  Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are possible with isolated higher amounts.

Travel could become hazardous.  Make preparations and avoid travel if you can.  Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.  To check highway conditions, log onto www.DriveTexas.org.

TXDOT began pre-treating roadways last night and will continue to monitor and treat roadways as needed throughout the winter weather event.

Remember to protect, pets, plants, and pipes.
