Caddo
SLOW. Water stained; 67 degrees; 1.35 feet high. Fish seem to be in full post spawn mode slowing the bite. Swim a small swim bait or drag a Texas rigged worm or a weightless fluke around the grass or pads for bites. The top water bite is starting to come around with a pop r lure or frog on the flats around grass or pads. The lily pad flowers are starting to bloom and the cypress trees are turning green, so God's creation is on full display when you come out to Caddo. The summer bite will be here quick. Report provided by Vince Richards, Caddo Lake Fishing & Fellowship
Conroe
GOOD. Slightly stained; 71 degrees; 0.11 feet above. Many folks are doing well on catfish in the bulkheads early and late, while the shad are in spawn. Shaded docks in the afternoon are producing decent catches using liver, shrimp, shad or minnows under a cork. Hybrids are schooling in 14-27 feet of water trolling with a hellbender and a pet spoon. Please check the Texas Parks & Wildlife to see the tooth patch between hybrids and whites. Crappie are good in 14-27 feet of water on orange/monkey milk crappie jigs, and crappie magnets in sho nuff on standing timber, lay downs, brush piles. Many hits on minnows in the deeper water. Black bass are good dead sticking weightless senkos close to bulkheads. Multiple buck bass off of beds using creature baits in 3-16 feet of water early morning then moving deeper in the afternoon creature baits and RatLTraps. Always wear your life jacket!Report by Mike Cason, Fishical Therapy Lake Conroe Fishing Guide.
Fork
FAIR. Water Stained; 61-68 degrees; 5.87 feet low. Lake Fork crappie fishing has been really good this past week. We are seeing fish scattered from 2-25 feet of water for the spring spawn. Trees along main lake creek channels in 9-21 feet of water are producing numbers and big fish. Reports of shallow fish being caught in 3-8 feet on stumps, brush and lay downs. Finally catching some spawned out fish, but we should have plenty more time before the fish head back out deeper. Jigs will produce well this time of year, but minnows are still working. Report provided by Jacky Wiggins, Jacky Wiggins Guide Service. Bass are good on windy points working shad patterned chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and squarebills in 1-4 feet of water. Pockets with timber close to points and channels good in 3-5 feet of water on big wood with Texas rigs and Carolina rigs. Best baits are craws or lizards in green pumpkin or watermelon gold. Report by Lake Fork fishing guide Marc Mitchell and Jason Hoffman, Lake Fork Pro.
Houston County

Martin Creek
SLOW. 68 degrees. Water lightly stained; 0.07 feet above. Fishing is consistent and the weather is improving so the bite should only get better. Crappie are good on brush piles, and submerged timer. Catfish are fair on punch bait and liver.
Naconiche
FAIR. Water clear to stained; 76 degrees. The wind just keeps blowing, which is good for the bass, but tough for the bass fishing. Many buck bass are on beds and red colored lizards, craws, and creatures are in order. Crappie population is good. Catfish are slow. Report by Eric Wolfe, NacoTack Fishing Services.
Raven

Sam Rayburn
GOOD. Water stained; 67-72 degrees; 1.24 feet low. Fishing is the same, but the weather is improving. Bass are good with some shallow on beds using soft plastics, and some transitioning back out to points and ledges using Carolina rigs, jigs and crankbaits. Crappie are good shallow in the cypress trees, with some transitioning to main lake brush piles. Catfish are good spawning shallow in creek channels. Bluegill are showing up biting on minnows and small jigs. Report by Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
Toledo Bend
GOOD. Water stained; 66 degrees; 0.68 feet low. The water level is 171.3 with no generators running. The temperature in the main lake is 65-67 degrees. The back feeder creeks are stained, but the shallow flats and main lake are clear. The lake has come up a few more inches this week and the water is up in the buck brush and the freshly mowed yards. The shad spawn is just starting and should continue through May. Typically, the shad are triggered to start their spawn when the water temperature ranges between 68-76 degrees. They normally lay their eggs on wooden structures and wooden bulkheads in shallow waters. Threadfin and gizzard shad play an important role in freshwater ecosystems, and by extension, are important to fishermen. Follow the shad, you’ll find the Bass! Bass are moving around in vegetation and around submerged structures. Try casting topwater imitations like popping frogs, buzz baits, spinnerbaits, wacky worms, and senko style baits, flukes, lizards and don’t forget them swim jigs and BIG swimbaits. Crappie are disappearing from the shallows heading back to the deeper water and brush piles. Best to use live minnows and jigs again. The Catfish are biting on a slip cork rig in 2-4 feet of water from first light to 8:30 a.m. using shrimp, live or frozen shad, chicken livers, and Captain’s garlic (chicken flavored) weenies. Bluegill are beginning to move up shallow as the water warms building spawning beds. The air is starting to warm at night and summer is coming, so get the family and go fishing for those good times and wonderful memories! Remember to always keep your life jack on while on the water. Captain’s tip, be aware, the deeper the water the bigger the swells. Don’t take a chance crossing any lake when high winds are forecasted. Play it safe on the water, always inform your loved ones or a friend of your expected return time to port or home. Good luck and tight lines! Report from Captain Steve “Scooby” Stubbe, Mudfish Adventures LLC, Mudfish Rod Shop, Kayak and Fishing Guide Service.
