Houston County was well represented when the Texas Girls Coaches Association released its Class 2A All-State Softball Team for the 2022 season.
Three players from Lovelady and two from Latexo are among the 50 players chosen for the elite squad from class 2A schools across the state.
Two Latexo underclassmen -- Charlee Biano and Natalie Nicol -- turned heads during their sophomore seasons for the Lady Tigers, who were area champions.
The Lovelady trio of senior Mihyia Davis, senior Macie LaRue and junior Scout Lovell earned All-State honors after helping lead the Lady Lions to the state runner-up title. The two seniors are both continuing their softball careers on the college level.
Davis signed with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette last November and LaRue signed with Bossier Parrish Community College in Louisiana.
In addition to receiving all-state honors, Lovell was selected to play in the TGCA All-Star game July 12 in Arlington. Davis and LaRue were both named to the TGCA Legacy All-Star team and LaRue earned Academic All-State recognition.
