TRINITY — The District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball championship game between the 10u Crockett Bulldogs and Onalaska lasted three-plus hours, but the wait was worth it for the boys in blue.
Enduring a grueling tournament schedule of six games over four days, Crockett outlasted Onalaska 23-20 in Monday night's seven-inning marathon.
Games normally have a one-hour, 45-minute time limit but championship games have no time limit, explained Crockett Merchants Youth Baseball president Brad Bond.
Bringing home the district crown to Houston County were Adrian Aguilar, Da'Vion Collins, Damian Cruz, Tanner Kellum, Brentley Kinkelaar, Austin Lee, Kaiden Owens, Tyler Riemenschneider, Bowen Santa Maria, Brentley Turrubiartes and Kaden Waits.
The Bulldogs, coached by Brad Riemenschneider, Ford Santa Maria and manager Noah Turrubiartes, will advance to the regional tournament next weekend.
