LATEXO – Latexo softballers notched a non-district win over Caldwell, 11-2, last Tuesday and continued their district win streak against Grapeland, 13-1, on Friday.

Traveling to Caldwell, the Lady Tigers erupted for seven runs in the fifth on the way to defeating the class 3A Lady Hornets.

Leading 4-2 after four innings, Latexo erupted for seven runs in the fifth. Latexo's last three runs of the night came on a homer by Charlee Biano.

Natalie Nicol had a five-hit day that included a pair of doubles and three RBI.

Shelby Eberts had a doubled and Lauren Woodard collected a double and single.

Taylor Dise pitched four innings and allowed two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and no walks. She gave up a solo homer in the fourth inning.

Woodard worked the last three frames and allowed no runs on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

Hosting Grapeland, the Lady Tigers plated five runs in both of the first two innings to build a 10-1 lead. They tacked on two markers in the third and one in the fourth to take the game under the 10-run rule.

A two-run homer by Baylee Omelina in the third inning highlighted the Lady Tigers' offense.

Woodard was 3-for-3 with three base hits

Batting 2-for-3 were Biano, Nicol, Dise and Mally Moore, who led with three RBI. Eberts and Omelina both went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Grapeland was led in hitting by Kayleigh Lively and Jessi Cunningham, who each had a double.

Morgan Terry had a RBI single that drove in Makayla McCombs for the Sandiettes' only run in the first inning.

Woodard went the distance in the circle for Latexo. She allowed one run on three hits, struck out eight and walked three in five innings.

Grapeland's Jaycee Graham pitched four innings and gave up 13 runs on 16 hits with no strikeouts and three walks.
